Jafari Raad

Mehrdad Jafari Raad is an award-winning Toronto-based composer for film, games, and media whose work has been featured at major international festivals including the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF), Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival, the Berlin International Film Festival, and the San Sebastián International Film Festival. His music has received multiple awards and nominations, with recognition from the ISFA Awards, LEO Awards, and CASMA Awards.
 

Working from his studio in downtown Toronto, he collaborates with filmmakers, game developers, artists, and production teams across Canada and internationally, creating original scores and helping shape the sonic identity of projects from early concept to final production.
 

Mehrdad holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in composition from the University of Toronto. Drawing from contemporary classical, electroacoustic, and world music traditions, he brings a distinctive cross-cultural voice to his work. His scores are known for their emotional depth, immersive textures, and strong connection to narrative, gameplay, and visual storytelling.
