Mehrdad Jafari Raad is a Toronto-based composer specializing in music for film, games, and media.
Working from his studio in downtown Toronto, he collaborates with Canadian and international filmmakers, game developers, artists, and production teams, offering original music composition as well as creative consultation on the sonic direction of each project.
His scores have been featured at major Canadian and international festivals, including the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF), Berlin International Film Festival, San Sebastian International Film Festival (SSIFF), and more. His work has received multiple awards and nominations, with recognition from the ISFA Awards, LEO Awards, and CASMA Awards.
Mehrdad holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in composition from the University of Toronto. Drawing from his background in contemporary classical and electroacoustic music — alongside deep knowledge of world music traditions — he brings a distinctive, cross-cultural voice to his work. His scores, including for interactive media, are known for their emotional depth, textural richness, and strong connection to narrative, gameplay, and visual storytelling.
